Christmas Shows 2008

            The Christmas shows have been scheduled, and once again, we have divided the studio into three groups.  Each group will perform at two nursing homes.  Check the following list to see which group your class is in.  The nursing homes, dates and times are listed on the next page according to the group.

            Christmas Spirit.  Parents, please remember that we perform at these nursing homes for the residents.  While we hope you get to see your child dance, we must stress that all families of the dancers stay behind the residents.  We are told every year that our Christmas shows are the highlights of so many of the residents’ year, and we hope to keep it that way.  In the Christmas spirit, please help us make this an enjoyable experience for the elderly.  You may want to encourage grandparents to skip these shows, and wait to see the recital in June.  I did assign each group one of the 'larger' nursing homes.  In Group A, Hurstbourne Care Center is the largest.  In Group B, Baptist Home East is the largest.  In Group C, Meadows East is the largest.  So, if you have a family member who ‘just can’t wait until recital, one of these nursing homes would be their best choice.

            Time.  Please don’t arrive too early.  The nursing homes were not designed to accommodate a large group of people.  We will be performing in the dining room, and sometimes have to wait until the rooms are cleared from dinner before we can enter.  Therefore there won’t be much room to wait.  Please arrive no more than 20 minutes before the show is to start, and line up in the hallway according to class (posted on the nursing home wall).  Please note that some of the evening shows start at 7 and some at 7:30.  They will last 30-40 minutes.

            Slippery floors.  The floors are always slippery for those classes wearing tap shoes.  Please put a small amount of masking or duck tape on the bottom of each tap shoe.  We recommend that all 3 and 4 year old classes wear black patent leather shoes (unless they wear ballet shoes for their Xmas dance) instead of their tap shoes.  Ballet shoes require no special attention.  (Note that the Atria is carpeted.)

            Costumes.  A separate costume sheet will be in your class mailbox shortly.

            Directions.  Directions to the nursing homes are on below.

            Classes.  There will be NO classes on the days of Xmas shows, unless told otherwise.  Please see

   your handout for info. 

These Christmas shows count as classes, and December tuition is regular price.

·        Marian Home -Ursaline Campus (3105 Lexington Road) From J’town: Take I-64 West to Cannons Lane Exit.  Turn right on Cannons Lane and then left on Lexington Road.  Marian Home is on the Ursaline Campus (on the right side of the road)  Follow campus signs to the ‘Mother House’.

                Allow a little extra time to get here-it can be tricky to find if you haven’t been here before.

·        Hurstbourne Care Center (2200 Stony Brook) From Taylorsville Rd and Hurstbourne Pkwy intersection: travel north on Taylorsville Rd.  Turn left on Stonybrook Drive just past Urban Active.  HCC will be on your right hand side.

·        Baptist Home East (3001 N Hurstbourne Parkway) Take Hurstbourne Parkway north and Baptist Home East will be on your right just past Westport Road.

·        Good Samaritan Center (3500 Good Samaritan Way) From the Taylorsville Rd-Hurstbourne Pkwy intersection: go south on Taylorsville Rd (toward J’town) and turn left on Watterson Trail (toward J’town library).  Turn left on either Good Samaritan Way or Bluebird Lane.  Parking is accessible from both streets

GROUP C

·        Meadows East (2529 Six Mile Lane) From Hurstbourne and Taylorsville Rd intersection: go south on Taylorsville Rd.  Turn right onto Six Mile Lane (just past the Stonybrook Kroger).  Meadows East is on the left, inside the first curve.

Date:    Tuesday, December 16

Time:    7:00pm    PLEASE NOTE A PREVIOUS PAPER SAID 7:30, THAT IS INCORRECT!

·        Atria Stonybrook (3451 South Hurstbourne Parkway) From Taylorsville Rd, take Hurstbourne Pkwy south toward Bardstown Road and the Atria is on the left, across from Dick’s Sporting Goods
